The forest of hands and teeth review

Look not dead yet :) but I've been reading undead . I just finished reading a book called The Forest of Hands and Teeth and loved it. This is a young adult post zombie apocalypse book.I've always been a fan of zombies movies but never read any zombie books before this one. I think I've been afraid that books would ruin the violence and gore that I've often loved about zombie movies.

This was a great read to start reading zombie books. The world just sucked me in and I just had to know how it ended. While I did find the main character Mary to be a bit annoying at times I couldn't hate her because at other times I found her to be a strong engaging character whom I really hoped would end up getting what she wanted. She was basically a typical teenage girl coming in a world that was not necessarily the easiest to live in. I can't wait to read the other books in this series and world.

This story takes place many years after the dead rose during what has become known as the return. The village that the main character Mary lives in is in the middle of a forest called The Forest of Hands and teeth filled with zombies which they refer to as the unconsecrated. Her great great great grandmother came to the village during the time when the dead first started rising. The women of her family have passed down stories of the ocean which they say is too big for the unconsecrated to conquer and the time from before. When tragedy strikes her village she is determined to make it to the ocean which she firmly believes to be safe from the unconsecrated. I can hardly wait to get my hands on other books in this series and the short stories in this world. I gave it a four star rating on my goodreads. if you would like to read my goodreads review here is the link
